Tasting Notes

The 2010 Jarhead Red opens with generous aromas of black cherry, plum, cedar and spice. Round, juicy flavors of cherry, raspberry and cinnamon unfold along a rich texture. Hints of coffee join supple tannins on a long, balanced finish. This boldly flavored wine is a perfect match for classic American fare, such as peppered steak, barbecued chicken and grilled sausage.

Vineyard & Process

The majority of the 2010 Jarhead Red comes the Firestone family’s estate vineyards in Santa Barbara County’s Santa Ynez Valley. This coastal valley is distinguished by its sunny Mediterranean climate, steady marine air influence and shallow, rocky soils—all of which are ideal for achieving balanced richness in classic Bordeaux and Rhône varietals.
